Become a Proclaimer for Children's Liturgy of the Word >>
Gather with our children and reflect on the first reading and the gospel during the Liturgy of the Word at mass! Call the Parish Office at (540) 774-0066 to inquire.

Become a Catechist
There is no better way to learn about and deepen your faith than to share and celebrate that faith with our children and youth. We need catechists to work with young children (3-6 year-olds), elementary children and teens.
Call the Parish Office at (540) 774-0066 to inquire.

OLN/Roanoke Catholic scrip Program

Roanoke Catholic School with the church’s help has a Kroger Care and SCRIP program. This allows you to help with parish efforts as well as make Catholic Education more affordable.

What is it?

A way for you to budget your normal shopping patterns to grocery stores, department stores, restaurants, hotels, airlines, gas stations and much more, while creating a parish effort fund and catholic tuition help fund.

How it works?

There are two programs. First is the Kroger’s Care program which is a one time purchase of a Kroger’s gift card for $5.00. You in return receive a gift card for Kroger’s valued at $5.00. Then on future shopping trips you reload your card for any value amount using credit, cash or check. Then, when you make a purchase you use this gift card to pay for your gas or groceries.

The other program is SCRIP. This program is a gift card program. You purchase gift cards to department stores, fast food and sit down restaurants, hotels, airlines, gas stations, home improvement stores, out of state grocery stores and many other retailers. Here you purchase gift cards at face value with cash or check. You in return have a gift card to that store, restaurant, gas station etc. at the given value. That card can be used immediately as a gift or purchase. The only difference is that it can not be reloaded where we get the credit.

How does the church and school make a profit?

Kroger’s has a number on the back of each card that is linked to our church. Each time you reload that card we get a 5% credit for the amount reloaded. This is split 50/50 with the church and the school.

With the other retail stores the percentages vary between 1.5% and 40% of the card value. It too is split 50/50 on the profit.

How often do you get paid?

The check is given to the school and the church on a quarterly basis.

How often can one purchase gift cards?

Gift cards can be purchased on a weekly basis via Cathy Connelly 265-5437. Or on a monthly basis at the scrip table in the Fellowship Hall. During holidays volunteers will be at the table weekly to take orders or sell what is on hand.

Why should I help?

It is an easy way for you to help support our parish efforts and make Catholic Education more affordable without costing you any money. It just takes a little time to budget.

How can it help me if I want my child to receive tuition help?

If you want to send your child to Roanoke Catholic, you would fill out an enrollment form listing your child’s name as a future Celtic. You would in return receive and 80/20 split. Your Kroger’s card would be linked to your family and any gift card purchases would be linked to your family’s name. So all funds would come directly off of your child’s tuition or be set up for all funds to be applied to future enrollment. If you have any questions call Cathy Connelly 265-5437.

What if my child is not school age and I am considering RCS?

Sign up now as a future Celtic and have your Kroger’s card linked and all purchases being made go into your fund. If you decide to send them to Roanoke Catholic you already have an account with some money to be used for your child’s tuition. If you decide not to send them you can donate that money to the tuition assistance fund that will be used for other families in the school to reduce tuition.
